Safe Routes to School
Cunningham Park and Vienna Elementary Schools have both submitted final versions of their Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Travel Plans to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for approval. The VDOT SRTS program encourages biking and walking to school and provides funding for infrastructure improvements such as sidewalks. In coming weeks the Town will be seeking public input through an online survey to help determine which sidewalks should get priority for SRTS grant requests and Town Council will be holding a public hearing on the grant requests at its May 23 meeting. Sidewalk infrastructure grant requests must be submitted by June 3 if VDOT approves requisite SRTS Travel Plans.

Bike Route Survey
We would like thank everybody who completed the Bike Route Survey. Vienna BAC is now working on additional bike routes. Bike Routes not only foster a healthy and active community, they also provide a traffic calming effect, take away no on-street parking and does not consist of separate bike lanes. Bike Racks for Town of Vienna Businesses
Vienna BAC is now working with Town of Vienna businesses to offer bike racks for use of Town of Vienna residents and visitors who choose to bike to Town of Vienna businesses. As a Town of Vienna business, you are not only increasing traffic to your business, you are also advocating a healthier lifestyle, promoting alternative transportation modes and also investing in the future health of our country, our planet.
Vienna BAC along with Town of Vienna Planning and Zoning and Board of Architectural Review worked together to create a "streamlined" Uniform Inverted U Bike Rack Application and Approval process for Town of Vienna businesses. It's fast, simple, and little to low cost to businesses. If you are a Town of Vienna business interested in bike racks, contact us by completing the Contact form.
*18 August 2011, 8pm - Board of Architectural Review approved the Uniform Bike Rack Application for the Inverted "U" Rack. If you are a Town of Vienna business interested in adding a bike rack on-site, click on Bike Vienna Partners.
