NYC launches "Citibike" without spending taxpayers dollars

New York city launched Citibike today, a bikeshare program available in Manhattan and Brooklyn.  The program will be fully implemented in the spring of 2013 which means New York will have another 24/7 transportation network with 10,000 bikes and 600 stations, the largest bike share system in North America and one of the largest in the world.  Citibank has agreed to pay $41 million to be the title sponsor, while Mastercard agreed to chip in $6.5 million to be the system’s “exclusive pa...

Riding your Bike in the evening

Several concerned Town of Vienna residents have asked us to remind cyclists to have a good lighting system installed in their bikes while biking in the dark.  It is not only the law, it keeps everyone surrounding you aware as well as safe.  If you need help in selecting a lighting system for your bicycle, contact Tim Fricker, tim@bikesatvienna.com or Jeff Palmer, jeff@spokesetc.com.

Town of Vienna Helmet Ordinance

On 27 September 2011, Town of Vienna Town Council passed the requirement for children under 14 to wear a helmet "whenever riding or being carried on a bicycle, an electric personal assistive mobility device, a toy vehicle, or an  electric power-assisted bicycle on any highway as defined in Virginia Code §46.2-100, a sidewalk, roadway, bikeroute or public bicycle path." Courthouse Road Bike Route
