VIENNA BICYCLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE BIKE RODEO
Vienna Police Department will offer the Bicycle Rodeo to teach children Bike Safety at the W&OD Safety and Bike Rodeo on 4 May 2013, 10-1pm at the Vienna Presbyterian Church parking lot across from the Town Green.
This hands-on session is designed to provide children with an opportunity to practice and develop skills that will help them become better bicyclists and reduce the chance of injury by avoiding common crashes. The Bike Rodeo includes a safety inspection of bikes and a series of skills stations directly related to everyday bicycling situations. Participants will practice starting and stopping, safely exiting a driveway, the proper way to look for traffic, and the best ways to avoid common road hazards that often lead to accidents. This is a free event. Your child must bring a bicycle, wear a helmet and close toe-shoes (flip-flops are not allowed) to take part in the event. Parent/Guardian has to be present at the time of the Bike Rodeo. A parental signature the morning of the Bike Rodeo will also be required for participation.
